Northern Runway Rehabilitation (NRR) Closure at Dubai International Airport (09 May – 22 June 2022)
The Northern runway (12L/30L) was not forecasted for rehabilitation until approximately 2024/25, however with the downturn in traffic and slower than expected recovery, Dubai Airports have taken an opportunity to deliver the works sooner will provide benefits in terms of minimising longer term lost traffic at DXB. Undertaking these works next year will mitigate the need for further works on this runway until well after 2030. The work planned during the NRR is expected to include resurfacing of the Northern runway, strengthening of the wider runway strip, aeronautical Ground Lighting (AGL) and Taxiway Guidance Signs (TGS) replacement, pavement reinforcement of key taxiway entry and exits, repair of drainage infrastructure, and the relocation of navigation aids substation. The Northern runway (12L/30R) at DXB will be closed for a period of 45 days to complete the refurbishment works. ACL as the coordinator for Dubai International Airport will work with the airport to facilitate the reduction in capacity during the period of the closure in a fair and transparent way. ACL will post all relevant guidance and notes related to the capacity reduction exercise on this page.
